The General Postdoc Meeting is a monthly forum co-hosted by the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) and the Postdoctoral Society (PDS). These meetings provide postdoctoral fellows with a dedicated space to share feedback, strengthen community, and help shape the programming and support offered to UAMS postdocs. Purpose
- Identify emerging postdoc needs and priorities.
- Strengthen communication between postdocs, the OPA, and the PDS.
- Provide targeted professional development content.
- Build community across departments and research areas.
Meeting Format
Each hybrid meeting includes:
- Brief updates from OPA and PDS leadership.
- Open discussion guided by community-informed themes.
- Rotating special features, including the Tool Spotlight and Peer Feedback Presentation Sessions.
- Virtual access via Microsoft Teams and in-person attendance at designated campus locations.
- Lunch is provided for in-person attendees as part of each monthly session.

Participate in a Spotlight or Feedback Session
Postdocs are invited to lead segments during monthly meetings. These opportunities expand professional development, public speaking, and peer-engagement experience.
Tool Spotlight
A brief, postdoc-led demonstration of a research tool, software platform, method, or workflow that may benefit the broader postdoc community.
Peer Feedback Presentation Session
A short-format research presentation designed to help postdocs practice public speaking, refine scientific communication, and receive constructive peer feedback. Ideal for preparing for conferences, defenses, or poster and oral presentations.
Recorded Sessions and Meeting Materials
OPA archives select sessions and their related materials for postdocs who cannot attend synchronously or who wish to revisit content.
