Research Tool Spotlight Series

About the Series
The Research Tool Spotlight Series is a postdoc-led forum designed to foster peer-to-peer information sharing across the research community. In each session, postdoctoral fellows present a brief, practical overview of a research tool, software platform, methodology, or resource they actively use to improve efficiency, rigor, or reproducibility in their work.
The series is grounded in the principle that postdocs are often the most knowledgeable users of emerging tools and workflows that are helpful to other postdocs. By creating space for postdocs to share what works for them, the series accelerates collective learning and strengthens cross-disciplinary collaboration.
What to Expect
Each Research Tool Spotlight session typically includes:
- A concise demonstration or walkthrough of a research tool or workflow
- Practical use cases drawn from the presenter’s own research
- Tips, limitations, and lessons learned
- Time for questions and discussion with peers
Sessions are intentionally accessible and application-focused. Prior expertise with the featured tool is not required.
How to Attend
The Research Tool Spotlight Series typically takes place during the monthly Postdoc General Meetings, which are held on the first Friday of each month unless otherwise noted. Sessions are scheduled as part of the regular meeting agenda.
Dates, times, locations, and registration details for upcoming Postdoc General Meetings are shared in advance via Office of Postdoctoral Affairs communications.

Interested in Presenting?
Postdocs are encouraged to volunteer as presenters. If you use a tool, software, method, or resource that has improved your research process, your perspective can benefit others.
Presentations are short, informal, and designed to highlight practical value rather than polished marketing.
