Animals from unapproved vendor sources will be required to go through quarantine before being placed in the existing colony. Animals will be accepted into the quarantine facility on a first come first served basis. Quarantine often has a waiting list that can extend for several months; keep this in mind when preparing to receive animals from a non-vendor source. Animals will be added to the waiting list and accepted into quarantine with the following stipulations:
- An Animal Use Protocol (AUP) must be approved with the strains and animal numbers accounted for. Please contact Kerrey Roberto (RobertoKerreya@uams.edu) in the IACUC office for assistance.
- An animal order must be submitted with Muse.
- Regardless of origin, all rodents must have an approved health history, reviewed and approved by a DLAM veterinarian. All quarantine rodents will be treated as pathogen-suspect.
- DLAM is not involved in the MTA process. Make sure that you have an approved MTA prior to requesting importation of your animals. Please contact Dori Wong Scoggins (Dori@uams.edu) in the General Counsel office for assistance.
The DLAM Quarantine Process lasts up to 2 weeks. A flat rate of $850.00 for up to 10 cages will be charged. This fee will cover the cost of PCR laboratory testing to exit the import colony from quarantine. A quarantine per diem rate of $1.82 per cage per day will be charged for all cages.
The Quarantine Facility is a restricted access area. Only DLAM staff will have access to animals housed in the Quarantine Facility.
