How to Transfer Animals Intra-Institutionally

Here is how you can transfer animals intra-institutionally, i.e. between PIs or AUP #s.

1. Log in to the Muse website and select “Protocols” under the “Animal Operations” tab.
2. Select the relevant protocol. Only protocols where you are listed as a user will appear.
3. Select “Transfer/Export Animals” button on the far-left menu.
4. Page 1- Basic Information
   • Enter or confirm required details including AUP number, request type, and Contact information.
   • Click Continue.
5. Page 2- Transfer Information
   • Select cage cards that will be transferred and click “Add All Checked” button underneath. The cards must be selected to proceed.
   • Fill out requested transfer date.
   • Answer optional questions #3 and #4 to facilitate the transfer.
   • Click Continue.
6. Page 3- Transfer Destination
   • If the answer is “yes” for #1. “Are you transferring these animals to another PI?”, select destination PI in question #2.
7. Click Continue.

Important: Your order is not submitted until you click the “Submit” button on the far-left menu. DLAM cannot view orders that remain in pre-submission.
