Research Development & Education
- Identify and distribute relevant funding opportunities
- Create writing templates (e.g., based on funding announcements)
- Maintain “Proposal Template and Sample Library“
- Assist with complex project management (e.g., COBREs, P01s)
- Identify journals for publication
- Develop and present seminars and workshops on scientific writing and grantsmanship
- Create and maintain resources for scientific writing (e.g., guides and checklists)
Writing & Editing
- Ensure that grant proposals adhere to sponsor guidelines and are responsive to review criteria
- Ensure that manuscripts adhere to journal guidelines and are responsive to the target journal
- Assist with design and editing of scientific posters
- Assist with writing non-technical grant proposal components
- In general, edit text for clarity, persuasiveness, and logical flow, particularly in scientific rationale and experimental design
- Clarify and refine the presentation of hypotheses and specific aims
- Evaluate document organization and suggest revisions to improve clarity and logical flow
- Suggest structure of tables and figures to best communicate data
- Apply principles of grantsmanship
- Determine whether peer reviewers’ comments have been addressed
- View Editing timeline
Data Visualization
- Produce engaging visuals for posters, grants, or peer-reviewed publications that make the data more easily understandable at a glance
- Design and edit data figures and tables, graphical abstracts, etc.
Priorities
Generally, services are provided on a first-come, first-served basis. However, if demand is high, grant proposals have priority.

- Editing promotion and tenure documents
- Editing student dissertations or theses (or other coursework)
- Formatting or managing bibliographic references and citations
