Welcome to the Division of Research and Innovation at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences! The Division supports the highly productive and internationally recognized faculty at UAMS involved in many areas of biomedical research. We provide support for all faculty in grant management, grant and manuscript writing, animal care and use, human subjects research, and clinical trials. We also foster faculty entrepreneurial and intellectual property pursuits through BioVentures.
The Division hosts several research showcases each year to celebrate research successes and promote collaboration. These showcases foster interactions between faculty and trainees in diverse areas of science while advancing translational research by providing an environment where clinical and basic scientists can exchange ideas. The Division also represents the Arkansas Biosciences Institute , providing guidance on the scientific endeavors of the Institute and funding to expand and enhance research programs in each College at UAMS.
The Division informs research policy at UAMS through the activities of the University Research Council. The URC is composed of active researchers from all Colleges who meet regularly to provide guidance on policies and research initiatives, including intramural funding and investigator-initiated proposals. We are also highly supportive of the multiple institutes and centers at UAMS. These include the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, the Institute for Community Health Innovation, the Translational Research Institute, and Arkansas Children’s Research Institute. In addition, the Division supports multiple COBRE-funded Centers and the Central Arkansas Veteran’s Healthcare System.
