Building Hallway Use
- Abandoned items in the halls are unsightly and unsafe. Corridors and hallways in research buildings must remain clear to provide safe egress during emergencies. If an exit route is blocked by equipment/boxes, someone trying to exit quickly could trip and injure themselves and others.
- Hallway items must not: 1) clog the flow of people entering and/or exiting the area, 2) reduce the 36” state mandated hallway access width, or 3) create a fire hazard.
- If chairs, file cabinets, desks, tables, coffee makers, etc. are no longer operational or needed, contact Operational Support Services to schedule surplus property pickup (501-686-5804).

Elevator Notice Boards
- Research event flyers are posted in the elevators in the Biomedical I & II buildings.
- If you have flyers to post for upcoming research events/speakers/workshops, contact Pam Kahler KahlerPamJ@uams.edu or Kathy Carlson CarlsonKathleenL@uams.edu who have access to the secure notice boards.
Biomed Office Furniture
- No furniture may be removed from the Biomed buildings without first contacting RESHSupport@uams.edu
- Since we have no temporary/permanent furniture storage, we are unable to reset any office/lab for the next occupant.
Research Freezers (-80 degrees)
- There are dedicated circuits to all the -80 freezers in the common equipment rooms/labs. Freezers are wired with monitoring alarms.
- Each freezer must have:
- up-to-date emergency contact name and after hours phone numbers posted on a freezer
- unit alarm parameters set for tolerance of stored products
- Contact Engineering & Operations (501-526-0000 call center) if you need to:
- move a unit
- add or dispose of a unit
- discuss power or temperature issues
- update lab/freezer contact information
- If you are leaving campus, ensure your department knows the disposition of all freezers, samples, and chemicals in your lab(s).
Research Poster Boards
The Division of Research and Innovation has poster boards for on-campus use only to highlight research events. If your college would like to reserve these boards for an event, the following steps apply:
- Contact RESHSupport@uams.edu to check date availability and ensure the # of boards needed are available.
- Poster board moving (to/from event location) must be arranged via Operational Support Services online move team form.
- Research poster boards are cork. Tape may not be used to affix posters. Push pins must be provided by the user and removed after your event.
- Research poster boards may not be used outdoors. Humidity causes the cork surface to buckle and pull away from the frame. Transportation of poster boards in rain is also prohibited. (Check the weather forecast a few days ahead and work with the move team to adjust board moving times.)
