I can’t link my ORCiD to my SciENcv account
- A duplicate NCBI account was created, probably when trying to log in with a secondary method. NCBI support can merge the accounts. Submit a ticket or email info@ncbi.nlm.nih.gov
- There is no other workaround this issue
Can I just use the old format page if I’m having trouble linking my ORCiD and downloading my biosketch?
- No, this will result in an error and not allow submission of the application
I want to format my Personal Statement into a specific format. What kind of formatting is allowed?
- NIH states that “SciENcv does not support special formatting like italics, bolding, etc. Users can use all CAPS and/or line breaks.”
What does it mean by only list professional appointments from the last 3 years?
- Any appointments outside your primary employment (editorial, advisory, leadership roles) must be reported if the occurred in the last 3 years. All primary employment positions must be reported as well (regardless of timeline)
How do I talk about my research products in my contributions to science if I can’t use citations?
- According to the guidelines, you can refer only to published works that are listed in the “other significant products” section, as well as works in progress.
Can I change the order in which publications are displayed in my biosketch?
- Publications will be presented in the biosketch common form in the order in which you select them from the menu, regardless of the order in which they appear in your myBibliography
When I enter identifying information, there is a glitch that results in multiple entries but also shows that information is missing. How can I fix this?
- There is an issue with the order in which information has been entered.
- First, go to your SciENcv homepage, and edit your profile, adding your current position and making sure your ORCiD ID is linked in that section
- Next, go to the biosketch you are currently working on. Delete any duplicate entry in section B (appointments and positions). You may also have to delete your current position in that section
- Lastly, edit the identifying information at the top of the biosketch, making sure the information matches that which you entered in your profile. Click view preview to see if the problem is fixed. Go back and enter the positions in section B if they have been deleted.
- If the issue is not resolved, you will have to create a new Biosketch. You (or your PI if you are working as a delegate) will need to fill out the “My Profile” section on the SciENcv home page. Once that’s filled out, it’ll auto-populate in any new docs they create, and you won’t get the duplicates every time they log out and back in.
