Research Experience

My clinical research activities have focused on the reproductive safety of treatment options (i.e., pharmacological options and electroconvulsive therapy) for neuropsychiatric illnesses (i.e., depression, chronic pain, opioid use disorder) during the perinatal period.

Research Interests

My research accomplishments have demonstrated my enthusiasm, leadership ability, and essential methodological knowledge required for clinical investigations within obstetrical populations with psychiatric illnesses. These accomplishments include completion of a clinical research fellowship within maternal mental illness; designing, implementing, and conducting the inaugural clinical trial in electroconvulsive therapy at UAMS; multidisciplinary collaborations (e.g., obstetrics and gynecology, anesthesiology, interventional pain, pediatrics, pharmacology); obtainment of federal and local funding; successful recruitment and following of study participants over an 18-month period; administration of structured assessments, and mastery of regulatory processes.
