BioVentures LLC is pleased to introduce the BioVentures Development Award Program. This new funding mechanism is designed to accelerate the pace of development of highly innovative nascent technologies and to support entrepreneurship activity at UAMS. These one-year awards are jointly funded by BioVentures LLC, the UAMS Vice Chancellor’s Office for Research, and the UAMS College of Medicine. The awards are intended to support the development of technologies that have secured or are in the process of securing Intellectual Property protection but need additional resources for proof-of-principle support of the technologies. These milestone-based resources are designed to support additional necessary experiments (in vitro or in vivo), prototype development for devices, computational resources for software development, and other activities that will increase the pace of invention development. The proposed activities must be new and must not overlap with the scope of any existing extramural or intramural awards. The awards will be made on a rolling basis, with the invention disclosures and presentations serving as applications that are reviewed by the UAMS Patent and Copyright Committee. All regulatory approval (IACUC, IRB, IBC, etc.) must be received prior to the release of funding.
