Created by the University of Queensland, the contest challenges Ph.D. students to explain their research in an engaging and clear 3-minute talk, intended for a non-specialist audience. It also polishes students’ academic, presentation, and research communication skills. Participants may use a single, static Power Point slide, shown at the beginning of the talk. More information can be found on the University of Queensland 3MT website.
UAMS hosts its Three Minute Thesis 3MT® competition during Student Research Day.
A series of competitions will be held that are open to any UAMS student currently engaged in research. Our goal will be for each of our 5 colleges (Medicine, Public Health, Health Professions, Nursing and Pharmacy) and the Graduate School to hold independent competitions toward the end of March. Then (assuming there are sufficient numbers), the two winners (1st and runner-up from each college competition) will participate in the 3MT® Finals at the Annual UAMS Student Research Day. For individual college competitions, a prize of $100 will be awarded to each Winner and People’s Choice selection.
