NIGMS Collaborative Program Grant for Multidisciplinary Teams
(RM1; PAR-23-077).
We are delighted to invite applications for the NIGMS Collaborative Program Grant for Multidisciplinary Teams (RM1; PAR-23-077). This initiative supports highly integrated teams tackling ambitious projects that surpass the scope of individual R01 grants. The Division of Research and Innovation is available to assist with proposal development as needed.
Program Highlights:
- Project Scope: The RM1 program targets ambitious projects in NIGMS mission areas requiring a focused, unified approach.
- Team Composition: Comprising three to six principal investigators, these groups should bring diverse, complementary expertise to foster collaboration.
- Research Objectives: Projects should have clear, achievable goals within a 5-10 year period, necessitating a multidisciplinary strategy.
- Institutional Diversity: Teams can operate within single or multiple U.S. institutions, enhancing flexibility and diversity.
- Management Responsibility: Teams share management duties to optimize efficiency and collaborative synergy.
- Diversity and Inclusion: Teams are encouraged to include members who contribute to diversity and include Early-Stage Investigators.

Pre-Application Guidelines:
The RM1 pre-application should include the following:
- Research Strategy Summary (one page max): Outline the project’s scientific foundation and critical research milestones.
- Team Management Plan Summary (one page max): Detail the organizational structure, team composition, shared leadership, and resource allocation.
- Biosketches for all Principal Investigators.
