Shuk-Mei Ho, Ph.D., Vice Chancellor of ResearchIn broad terms, the Vice Chancellor for Research, Shuk-Mei Ho, Ph.D. provides leadership in formulating and carrying out strategies to expand campus-wide research and collaborative activity.

Under her leadership, the UAMS Research Committee (URC), which includes research faculty members from all UAMS colleges, meets monthly to discuss research policy, processes, and strategic planning, grant submission, and collaborative research.

The Office of Research (in conjunction with the College of Medicine) also hosts a quarterly Showcase of Medical Discoveries scientific poster and collaboration event to familiarize clinician and basic science faculty members with each others’ research and areas of interest. Larry Cornett, Ph.D.

Associate Vice Chancellor for Research, Larry Cornett, Ph.D. is responsible for supporting and enhancing research across all colleges including the College of Medicine, College of Pharmacy, College of Nursing, College of Public Health and College of Health Related Professions. A long-time member of the Dept. of Physiology and Biophysics, Dr. Cornett has guided research regulatory policy, animal research, administration, and collaborations with other state institutions.

Dr. Cornett is also the Principal Investigator of the long term Arkansas INBRE infrastructure grant.  IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE) promote the development, coordination and sharing of research resources/expertise that expands research opportunities and increases the number of competitive investigators in IDeA-eligible states.
