The UAMS Institutional Review Board oversees research that involves human participants. Our goal is to protect human research participants’ rights, safety, and welfare by ensuring compliance with laws and regulations that pertain to research, as well as with the ethical standards described in IRB and institutional policies. The Institutional Review Board includes committees of reviewers and a professional office staff, who collaboratively review and approve human subject research.
The Institutional Review Board is a component of UAMS’ overall Human Research Protection Program, which has been fully accredited by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs since 2005.
