Getting a continuing review (CR) approved can take some time. The CLARA system sends reminders about expiration dates 90, 60, and 30 days before expiration. Please submit continuing review forms to the IRB at least 30 days before your expiration date. A lead time of at least 60 days is preferred. These lead times will help you get reapproval before the study approval expires. While many continuing review approvals are straightforward, some entail delays to get on an agenda, or you may have contingencies to address before the IRB can review or approve the CR.
Note, also, that you cannot have both a CR and a modification form pending at the same time. Please plan your submissions carefully to avoid missing approval deadlines.
