Good news! Our most recent application to the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP) was approved last week, so we are now fully reaccredited for another five years!
According to the organization, “AAHRPP accreditation indicates that your organization follows rigorous standards for ethics, quality, and protections for human research.”
UAMS was initially accredited in 2005, making it one of the first 25 institutions to earn that recognition, and has maintained its accreditation since then. Applying for reaccreditation is a fairly massive undertaking, involving preparation of a detailed written application, followed by a site visit. People from all over campus were interviewed during the site visit, and we thank each of you for your assistance. And, the next time you run into IRB Director Jennifer Holland, be sure to thank her for all her work in getting this reaccreditation done. Ms. Holland was the primary mover and shaker behind the written application and follow-up correspondence, and was chief cat-herder in getting everything and everybody lined up for the site visit.
