Because having too many policies does not bring us joy, we’ve taken the bold step of combining our two separate policies on IRB Chairs and IRB Vice-Chairs into a single policy, descriptively titled IRB Chair and Vice-Chair. The policy, IRB Policy Number 3.4, describes chair appointments and responsibilities and indicates the chair is the person who can speak on behalf of the IRB committee. (So that’s the person to call if you have a question about a IRB contingency returned by the full board.) Our current IRB Chair is Dr. Allen Sherman; our vice-chair is Pam Killebrew. Note that our chair and vice-chair also have day jobs; Allen is a psychologist, and Pam works is the associate director in the IRB office.
