Social media is everywhere — and that includes in the research space. A recent blog entry on Ampersand, the blog of Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research talks about the pros and cons of research subjects using social media to talk about their research participation. While social media can be a great tool to connect with other research subjects and provide support to each other, inappropriate use can also pose a risk to subjects and to the study conduct. The blog item links to a YouTube video “targeted to research participants, to encourage online communication while describing the risks.” We hope you’ll take a look at the blog item and video and perhaps pick up some tips for subjects in your studies.
